82% PARENTS FOR CHOICE IN EDUCATION

FUNDING FROM UTAH

SALT LAKE – Today Parents for Choice in Education made its financial information public.

“Our donations come from people who are passionate about allowing all children to receive the best education possible.  They could give their money to many causes but recognize a quality education is priceless,” said Parents for Choice in Education Board Member, Robyn Bagley.

The bulk of the in-state funding came from the Byrne family.

“I have been lucky to be the recipient of the American dream.  Whether you want to become a teacher or artist, an entrepreneur or doctor, having a great education is one of the keys to reaching dreams. I am grateful and humbled by the parents I have been blessed with, and like the parents of Utah, they know what is best for their kids.  It is my hope that the people of Utah will vote for families and opening doors of opportunity for tens of thousands of kids this coming Tuesday,” said school voucher advocate and Overstock.com CEO, Dr. Patrick Byrne, a Utahn who employs around one thousand people in Utah, pays taxes here, and has no vested interest in the school system.

Other Utah donors include public school and private school parents and businesspeople.

The 18% that is from out of state comes mostly from individuals and public policy groups that share the same enthusiasm for making positive changes in education to meet today’s needs, such as the Alliance for School Choice.
